Music in the 1990s
Starting in the early 90s, the pop metal sound of the late eighties was going out of style. Alternative rock music, urban Hip Hop, and R&B came to the forefront. For those looking for a little more upbeat sound, teen pop and dance pop bands were also very popular.
90s Pop Music
leaned heavily towards contemporary R&B for most of the 90s, led by the incomparable Mariah Carey. Later in the decade the teen pop bands and singers such as 'N Sync, Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears started to take over.
